For Spanish, this short film from
Chile, No hay pan, could work for secondary level students.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Gw_
I haven't found it with English subtitles but students can turn
on the Spanish subtitles.
They wouldn't have to understand all the subtitles to catch the
gist of the film. It's about the plight of the small business owner (the owner of an almacén) when the supermarket comes to the neighborhood.
No hay pan
The short film, Casitas,
from Spain could also work. It's humorous / satirical and deals with the problem of high unemployment among the youth in Spain.

School systems in several states and hundreds of U.S. colleges are about to cancel face-to-face classroom instruction and move quickly to online instruction as a consequence of the COVIC-19 pandemic. Many programs and teachers not used to online instruction will need advice. There was an excellent IALLT webinar:

Set #1: Las excusas
|
Today we release a full week of e-learning lesson plans for the Wooly music video, Las excusas.

We didn't just throw together a bunch of worksheets for you folks. Rather, we created a week-long collection of activities that range from
screen-time with the nuggets, reading, and community-building exercises, all built around a path that starts with a lot of comprehensible input, slowly leading students towards output in writing
and speech.
More than anything, they're fun. Students need fun right now. For example, just wait until they hear the original
demo of Las excusas, recorded back in 2011.
The plans are included as part of the Wooly subscription, but in case you missed the newsletter last week:

Hope you are well. Would like to share a
resource Películas Ecuatorianas para ver online, I received from a friend of mine in Ecuador, also quarantined. Makes me
realize almost 150 countries are living or had lived in some sort of quarantine. There must be other international resources available that we could also share with our
students.

A Traveler’s Guide to Surviving Quarantine
Recipes! When we can’t go out to our favorite sushi, tapas or French restaurants, why don’t we bring some of those international flavors into our home? Exercise! Working out is proven to be powerful a resource when fighting some of the anxiety we’re all feeling right now. And when you aren’t standing and walking all day like you are at school, sneaking in some exercise is important for your body and mind. Gyms are closed and so are fitness studios-what do we do? International fitness challenges!
Positivity Challenge! Working out is amazingly helpful to get in a good headspace, but it never hurts to also throw in some mindful positive practices. So much of positive psychology is just tricking your brain into better habits. My challenge to you and whomever is in isolation with you is:
In-home travel! Can’t get outside, let alone to France, but still have the travel bug? Take a wine tour of your house!
Challenge for your students! I know remote teaching is a whole new challenge that you are facing, and have already made incredible strides towards. Here are a couple of brain tests for your students to keep them in a global mindset, even from their living room couch:
How do I fill these hours
inside my house? Now that we’ve got the essentials covered, how about we tackle some of that downtime. How have I been

Dear teachers,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,I'm sitting here imagining all the places this email will land. There are so many unique contexts right now and adjustments happening everywhere!
I have something for everyone this email. Here's the order so you can jump to the section you need:
- Teachers (free download)
- Everyone! (3 free things you should know about)
- Families (free storytimes)
Teachers:
If you own my Editable Book and Movie Guides & Graphic Organizers Set, I just updated with a "digitized version" students can directly type into. Re-download to access that version and easily share with your students for distance learning.
If you don't own that, I'm sending two sample pages you can use with your students right away! These are designed to go with novels or stories and help students process what they're reading.
Free Digital Story Graphic Organizers
Everyone!
Here are some of my favorite things I don't want you to miss:
- AudibleStories has a selection of free stories, as long as schools are out.
- ANNND... Scribd is also offering 30 free days (no credit card required). They have a HUGE selection of book and audiobooks in Spanish and English. I am not sponsored by them (unless you word for Scribd and are reading this; feel free to contact me lol). I'm in love with this deal and my kids have been listening to amazing books for hours, all week.
I just updated an old post with my favorite online Spanish learning resources for a variety of ages. Hope it helps to have everything in one place!

Thank you for the link. It seems the blogger also has a list of free Italian films for screening

I also found a Canadian film called "before the streets" for free on YouTube. It's a bit in French but mostly
in the native language of the Atikamekw
people who live in northern Quebec. It's about a young man who gets accidentally caught up in a crime and seeks out his tribal roots . It's beautifully filmed and I think can lead to great discussion
on the native people of Canada as well as restorative justice circles

Filmfra.com
has French movies with French subtitles. I especially love that there are French versions of american films like frozen. The kids get a kick out of the songs and characters they know in
French.
